Bio
Tom Smith's career at the elite level was confined to a brief cameo with South Melbourne during the VFL's formative years in 1898. Entering the senior setup as a 25-year-old, he made his debut in a Round 3 victory over St Kilda but was unable to impact the scoreboard during his short time in the side. He retained his place for the following week's clash against Melbourne, yet failed to cement a permanent spot in the lineup or display the form required to hold his position. His tenure concluded after just those two appearances, leaving him as a footnote in the early history of the Bloods.
