Bio
Recruited from South Adelaide with pick 66 in the 2007 National Draft, Tom McNamara arrived at Melbourne as the youngest player selected in his class. Standing 190cm, he was initially developed as a tall defender, making his debut late in the 2009 season where he showed promise with a booming goal against Fremantle. However, he struggled to cement a spot in the senior side during a difficult era for the Demons, spending the entire 2010 season in the VFL before being delisted and immediately re-drafted as a rookie. In a bid to save his career, McNamara reinvented himself as a run-with midfielder for the Casey Scorpions, earning a solitary recall in 2011 before being delisted for a final time.
