Bio
Selected by the Western Bulldogs with pick 6 in the 2004 National Draft, Tom Williams was a speculative high-end talent recruited from Queensland with a background in rugby union. While he arrived at Whitten Oval with elite athleticism and the physical profile of a prototypical key position player, his career was severely hampered by a relentless run of injuries. Williams possessed the speed and size to shut down dangerous opposition forwards and occasionally drifted forward to utilise his marking ability, yet he struggled to string games together due to chronic shoulder, foot, and soft tissue setbacks. Despite his potential and perseverance through endless rehabilitation programs, he managed only 85 games across ten seasons before retiring in 2014, leaving a legacy as a talented prospect whose body ultimately could not withstand the rigours of AFL football.
