Bio
A local product born and bred in the Magpies' heartland, Tom Wright was a promising forward and follower who broke into the Collingwood side late in the 1906 season. Despite managing just 12 senior games, he featured in finals campaigns in both his years at Victoria Park before his career took a unique turn when he relocated to New Zealand for work. Wright earned a distinct place in football history by returning to Melbourne in 1908 to captain the New Zealand representative team at the Jubilee Australasian Football Carnival. After a subsequent stint in the VFA with Prahran, he served on the Collingwood committee before enlisting in the AIF, tragically losing his life in France during World War I.
