Bio
Recruited by Greater Western Sydney as a 17-year-old access selection, Tomas Bugg was a foundation player for the Giants who established himself as a combative defender and run-with specialist during the club's difficult early seasons. He requested a trade to Melbourne ahead of 2016, where he transitioned into a high-pressure defensive forward and became well-known as an on-field agitator. His stint at the Demons was overshadowed by a high-profile striking incident involving Sydney's Callum Mills in 2017, which resulted in a significant suspension and ultimately saw him fall out of favour with the selection committee. Although Carlton offered him a career lifeline via the rookie draft after he was delisted by Melbourne, Bugg announced his immediate retirement early in the 2019 season without making a senior appearance for the Blues.
