Bio
Born in Richmond but raised in Geelong where his father was a prominent singing teacher, Tommy Buchan arrived at Corio Oval via local side Newtown. He established himself as an adaptable small defender who could be swung forward to great effect, often operating as a dangerous goal-sneak when the team needed a spark in attack. Although his senior career spanned just four seasons, his contribution to the club extended well beyond his playing days, eventually seeing him serve on the match committee and as President of the Past Players and Officials Association. Off the field, Buchan left a permanent mark on the city as a renowned architect, designing many of Geelong's defining landmarks including the fire station and hospital, and was honoured with life membership of the football club in 1915.
