Teams

A diminutive but hard-edged rover and forward, Tommy McHenry holds a significant place in Footscray history as a member of the club's inaugural VFL side. Born in Broomfield, he established himself in the Tricolours' VFA lineup, featuring in the 1924 premiership team that famously claimed the "Champions of Victoria" title against Essendon. Standing just 168cm, McHenry was known for his dashing runs and goal sense, booting three majors in a memorable 1925 win over South Melbourne. He played 21 games across the club's first two VFL seasons before his career at the elite level concluded, remembered best as one of the pioneers who helped steer the Bulldogs through their historic promotion to the big league.
