Bio
Recruited from County Kerry, Tommy Walsh arrived at St Kilda as a high-profile international rookie with a reputation as one of Gaelic football's brightest young stars. Unable to break into the Saints' senior lineup despite promising VFL form, the key position prospect was traded to Sydney in late 2011 in search of greater opportunity. Standing 193cm, Walsh possessed the athleticism to swing between defence and attack, eventually making his AFL debut for the Swans in 2012. However, just as he appeared to be finding his footing at the top level, his career was effectively derailed by a severe hamstring tendon injury sustained against Essendon in 2013. He managed just five senior games across five seasons on AFL lists before being delisted and returning to Ireland in 2014.
