Bio
Hailing from the historic football town of Willunga, Tommy Waye established his credentials in the SANFL with Port Adelaide, earning state selection for South Australia before crossing the border to Footscray in 1932. His move to Victoria was driven by employment opportunities during the Depression, and he arrived at the Western Oval alongside fellow Port Adelaide recruit Les Dayman, providing the Bulldogs with a ready-made injection of interstate talent. A classy rover who could push forward and hit the scoreboard, Waye made an immediate impact in the VFL, polling Brownlow votes in his debut season and finishing as the club's second-leading goalkicker in 1934. Although his VFL career spanned just four seasons, he remained in Victoria after his retirement, remembered as a sharp, goal-kicking follower who successfully translated his SANFL form to the elite Victorian level.
