Bio
A decorated South Australian rover, Tony "The Ant" Antrobus arrived in Victoria with a formidable reputation as a 1983 Magarey Medalist and North Adelaide star. Although originally drafted by Essendon in 1982, he did not cross the border until 1987, where his time at Windy Hill was unfortunately defined by persistent injuries, including a knee issue that wiped out his entire 1988 season. When fit, Antrobus was a damaging small forward and midfielder who combined elite skills with a surprising overhead marking ability for his 174cm frame. Known as "The Angry Ant" for his fiery demeanour and aggression at the contest, he showed flashes of his brilliance during Essendon's 1989 finals campaign but was ultimately delisted and spent a final brief season with St Kilda in 1991. While Victorian fans were largely robbed of his best football, he remains a legend of the SANFL and a member of North Adelaide's Team of the Century.
