Bio
Recruited from the Ballarat Rebels, Tony Bourke was a patient defender who endured a lengthy apprenticeship before earning his opportunity at senior level. Originally selected by Carlton with pick 77 in the 1994 National Draft, he spent nearly four years developing in the reserves before finally making his debut against Collingwood in Round 14, 1998. Despite his perseverance and consistent form in the lower grades, Bourke found it difficult to break into a formidable Blues backline that included established stars like Stephen Silvagni and Ang Christou. He managed just four senior appearances across two seasons on the primary list before being delisted at the end of 1999.
