Family

Tory Dickson carved out a distinct niche in the AFL as a mature-age recruit, selected by the Western Bulldogs with pick 57 in the 2011 National Draft after impressing in the VFL with the Bendigo Bombers. Debuting at the age of 24, he bypassed the typical development phase required for younger draftees and immediately settled into the senior side as a medium-sized forward. His journey from local football to the elite level exemplified the value of perseverance, and he quickly repaid the Bulldogs' faith by becoming a regular fixture in their attack, offering immediate scoreboard impact for a developing side.

A renowned sharpshooter, Dickson built a reputation as one of the most reliable set-shot kicks in the competition, rarely missing opportunities inside 50. While he was not a high-volume possession winner, his ability to read the play, take overhead marks against taller opponents, and convert under pressure made him invaluable. This efficiency was most evident during the Bulldogs' 2016 premiership campaign, where he was instrumental throughout the finals series, including a vital four-goal haul in the preliminary final against Greater Western Sydney. Persistent soft-tissue injuries restricted his availability in his final few seasons, leading to his retirement at the end of 2020, but he departed the club as a premiership hero and one of the most statistically accurate goalkickers of the modern era.
