Teams

Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers, Travis Baird began his AFL career on the Brisbane Lions' rookie list. He impressed in the QAFL with the Suncoast Lions and earned a promotion to the senior list late in the 2005 season to replace veteran Martin Pike, managing two games at the top level. Rather than accepting a demotion back to the rookie list for the following year, Baird took a calculated risk by nominating for the National Draft, where he was thrown a lifeline by the Western Bulldogs with pick 46. A versatile swingman standing 193cm, he was capable of playing key position roles at either end of the ground and was noted for his reliable kicking. Baird added three games to his career tally in 2006 but was unable to command a regular spot in the Bulldogs' lineup, eventually being delisted at the end of the 2007 season without adding to his game count.
