Bio
Drafted by Essendon with pick 26 in the 2009 National Draft, Travis Colyer arrived from Claremont with a reputation for elite speed. He spent his early years at Tullamarine establishing himself as a line-breaking option, though his momentum was frequently halted by injury and the club's tumultuous period during the supplements saga, which resulted in him missing the entire 2016 season due to a WADA suspension. While he returned to play a full season in 2017, Colyer struggled to hold his spot the following year and requested a trade back to his home state of Western Australia, joining Fremantle for the 2019 season.
Initially playing on the fringe at the Dockers, Colyer reinvented himself under coach Justin Longmuir, transitioning from a pure outside runner into a disciplined, high-pressure small forward. His pace remained his greatest asset, allowing him to close down defenders and break lines, but it was his leadership among a young forward group that defined his latter years. He became a consistent contributor during Fremantle's return to finals action in 2022 before eventually being delisted at the end of 2023, closing the book on a resilient career across two states.
