Bio
Recruited from Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, Trent Knobel was a physical, traditional ruckman who became a journeyman across three clubs during the 2000s. Originally listed by the Brisbane Lions, he found senior opportunities scarce during the club's dominant premiership era, sitting behind established big men Clark Keating and Beau McDonald. Seeking greater game time, Knobel was traded to St Kilda ahead of the 2002 season, where he used his heavy frame to contest ball-ups and provide protection for a developing midfield. However, mobility issues and limited impact around the ground restricted his longevity at Moorabbin, and after being delisted, he was thrown a lifeline by Richmond with the first pick in the 2005 Pre-Season Draft. At Punt Road, he briefly shouldered the ruck load to assist Troy Simmonds but battled persistent injury setbacks, ultimately finishing his career as a depth player known more for his contested work than his athletic versatility.
