Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle with pick 32 in the 2019 National Draft, Trent Rivers arrived at Melbourne with a reputation for leadership having captained Western Australia at the Under 18 Championships. He wasted little time adapting to the senior level, debuting in the opening round of the 2020 season and quickly cementing his place in the Demons' lineup. His poise and reliable distribution from the back half became key assets during the club's resurgence, and he etched his name into Melbourne folklore as a member of the drought-breaking 2021 premiership side, playing every game of the finals series as a composed young defender.
While he established his career as a rebounding half-back capable of reading the play and intercepting opposition attacks, Rivers later expanded his game to become a genuine utility option. His transition into the midfield added grit and drive to the engine room, allowing him to showcase his contested ball-winning ability and two-way running. With over 100 games to his name by his mid-20s, Rivers developed from a promising junior talent into a reliable senior core player, valued for his tactical versatility and consistency in the Melbourne setup.
