Bio
Recruited from the Gippsland Power with pick 31 in the 2005 National Draft, Trent West spent his early years at Geelong patiently developing as an understudy to premiership ruckman Brad Ottens. A physical tall capable of drifting forward to take a contested mark, he is best remembered for his breakout 2011 campaign where he cemented his spot in the senior side late in the season and played a pivotal role in the Cats' premiership victory over Collingwood. Seeking consistent opportunities as a primary ruckman, West was traded to the Brisbane Lions following the 2013 season. His time in Queensland was unfortunately derailed by a ruptured ACL sustained in early 2014, and after struggling to regain his place in the senior lineup, he retired at the conclusion of 2016.
