Bio
Originating from the distinctively named Mallee club of Tempy-Gorya-Patchewollock, Trevor Poole was a highly skilled utility who established himself as a standout performer during a lean era for Richmond. A mobile half-back flanker and wingman, Poole combined strong overhead marking ability with polished ball use on the run. His quality was recognised early at Punt Road, where he won the Jack Dyer Medal as the club's Best and Fairest in 1985—just his second full season—and earned selection for Victoria in State of Origin football.
After 99 games with the Tigers, Poole was traded to Geelong following the 1989 season, adding experienced depth to a Cats side entering a golden period under Malcolm Blight. He became a reliable contributor at Kardinia Park, notably playing on the wing in the 1992 Grand Final against West Coast, where he kicked the opening goal of the match. While injuries and competition for spots limited his output in his final season, he retired as a respected two-club player who had successfully transitioned from a star in a struggling team to a key role player in a premiership contender.
