Bio
Recruited from Launceston in the NTFA, Trevor Ranson was a tall defender who crossed Bass Strait to test himself in the VFL with St Kilda. He played the first two games of the 1934 season against Geelong and Richmond, but a severe knee injury cut his mainland career short. Returning home, Ranson became a dominant figure in Tasmanian football, winning Launceston's best and fairest in 1937 and later captain-coaching the club to the 1945 premiership following his service in World War II. He finished his playing days as the inaugural captain-coach of Scottsdale and was later inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
