Recruited from Claremont in the 2001 National Draft, Tristen Walker was a powerfully built key position prospect who is best remembered for a dramatic cameo in Collingwood's 2003 finals campaign. Affectionately known as "Tex," he made an immediate impact on debut in Round 1 of that season, where he was tasked with manning Richmond spearhead Matthew Richardson and successfully restricted the star forward to a wasteful 1.6. Despite this promising start, Walker struggled to lock down a permanent role as either a key defender or forward, spending much of his time in the VFL with Williamstown. His career defining moment arrived when he was recalled for the 2003 Grand Final to replace the suspended Anthony Rocca, creating a unique scenario where he played in a VFL premiership and an AFL Grand Final in consecutive weeks. He was unable to consolidate his spot in subsequent seasons, however, and was delisted at the end of 2006 without adding to his game tally that year.
