Bio
A product of the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, Troy Broadbridge was a defender who worked his way into Melbourne's senior side through persistence and defensive reliability. Selected by the Demons with pick 62 in the 2001 National Draft, he evolved into a versatile backman capable of matching up on both tall and medium forwards, valued highly for his disciplined checking and team-first approach. Broadbridge solidified his standing within the squad during the 2004 season, playing 14 games including a final to seemingly cement his place in the club's future plans. His career was abruptly and tragically ended when he lost his life in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami while on his honeymoon, an event that deeply impacted the football community and is commemorated by the Demons through the annual Troy Broadbridge Memorial Trophy.
