Bio
Drafted from the Perth Football Club with pick 26 in the 1996 National Draft, Troy Cook began his career with the Sydney Swans, where he quickly adapted to the rigours of senior football. Despite establishing himself as a capable contributor over three seasons in the Harbour City, the Carnarvon product sought a return to his home state, requesting a trade to Fremantle ahead of the 2000 season. His arrival at the Dockers provided immediate grit to their engine room, and he wasted no time in making his mark, winning the Doig Medal as the club's best and fairest in his first year in purple.
Renowned for his ferocious tackling and fearless attack on the contest, Cook became a cult figure at Fremantle and a central pillar of their midfield brigade during the early-to-mid 2000s. Often playing through pain and throwing his body into packs with little regard for his own safety, he offered crucial protection to the club's outside runners. He was a key on-field leader during Fremantle's rise to its maiden finals series in 2003 and the Preliminary Final run of 2006. Cook retired in 2007 as a Life Member, widely regarded as one of the toughest players to ever represent the club.
