Bio
Recruited as a mature-age prospect from East Perth in the WAFL, Troy Wilson arrived at West Coast with a ready-made body and a reputation as a dominant state-league goal kicker. Debuting at the age of 29 in 2001, he immediately filled a void in the Eagles' forward line, utilising his immense physical strength and vice-like hands to serve as the team's primary focal point. While he lacked the closing speed of younger opponents, Wilson compensated with intelligent leading patterns and exceptional contested marking ability, quickly becoming a cult hero among the fan base. He proved remarkably consistent in his first two seasons, booting 40 goals in each, but injuries and the club's shift toward a younger list limited his output in 2003. Despite a brief AFL tenure of just three years, Wilson's legacy remains that of a highly efficient spearhead who seized his late opportunity with both hands, finishing with an impressive average of nearly 2.4 goals per game.
