Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide with pick 21 in the 1995 Pre-Season Draft, Tyson Edwards evolved into one of the most durable and consistent midfielders in Adelaide Football Club history. While often overshadowed by high-profile teammates like Andrew McLeod, Mark Ricciuto, and Simon Goodwin, Edwards was a vital component of the Crows' engine room during their sustained periods of success. He played a key role in the club's back-to-back premierships in 1997 and 1998, establishing himself as a clean ball-handler with elite decision-making skills who could operate effectively through the midfield or across half-back to set up play.
Despite accumulating massive possession numbers and finishing runner-up in the Malcolm Blight Medal three times, Edwards famously never earned All-Australian selection, cementing his reputation as one of the modern era's most underrated performers. His durability was remarkable, and he became only the second Crow to reach the 300-game milestone. His career faced a significant challenge in late 2009 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, though he made a swift recovery to return for the 2010 season.
