Bio
Recruited from Melton, Tyson Lane made an immediate impact at the Western Bulldogs with a Rising Star nomination on debut in 1995, showcasing his potential with a five-goal haul against Collingwood early in his rookie year. Despite his natural talent, he struggled to cement a regular senior spot at the Kennel and requested a fresh start after playing in the club's 1998 reserves premiership. Lane found a new lease on life at Victoria Park following a straight swap for Josh Mahoney, enjoying a career-best 1999 season where he finished sixth in the Copeland Trophy while reinventing himself as a rebounding defender and midfielder. However, his time at the elite level was cut short when he announced a shock retirement on the eve of the 2002 season at just 25 years of age, citing a loss of motivation, before heading north to continue his football journey in Cairns.
