Bio
Recruited by Richmond in the 2017 Rookie Draft, Tyson Stengle began his career as a talented small forward unable to consistently break into a Tigers lineup teeming with premiership-winning crumbers. Seeking greater opportunity and a chance to play alongside his mentor and relative Eddie Betts, he requested a trade to Adelaide ahead of the 2019 season. However, his time at West Lakes was marred by off-field indiscretions, eventually resulting in his contract being terminated in 2021. After a brief stint rebuilding his form and reputation in the SANFL with Woodville-West Torrens, Stengle was offered a lifeline by Geelong as a delisted free agent.
At Kardinia Park, Stengle realised his potential, seamlessly fitting into the Cats' attacking structure as a high-production small forward. Renowned for his evasion, elite goal sense, and ability to finish difficult chances, he became an All-Australian and a premiership player in his first season with the club in 2022. No longer on the AFL fringe, Stengle has established himself as one of the competition's most dangerous ground-level threats, providing Geelong with a reliable avenue to goal and locking down a permanent spot in the senior side.
