Bio
Recruited from the local Essendon Catholic Young Men's Society (CYMS), Vern Sarsfield was a homegrown talent who earned a brief opportunity at senior level during the opening rounds of the 1929 season. He made his debut in a heavy Round 1 loss to Carlton before tasting victory the following week against Footscray, where he booted his solitary career goal in a high-scoring win at Windy Hill. Unable to consolidate his place in the side, he was omitted immediately after that breakthrough performance and did not feature again for the Bombers, eventually moving to the Mallee region to play for Ouyen Rovers before serving in the Australian Army during World War II.
