A diminutive locally recruited rover, Vic Bodsworth worked his way up from the Footscray thirds to break into the senior lineup in 1949. Standing just 170cm, he showed promise as a goal-kicking on-baller, averaging a goal a game during his brief stint at the Western Oval. After struggling to cement a regular spot in the senior side over two seasons, Bodsworth crossed to the VFA with Yarraville before forging a decorated career in regional Victoria. He became a standout player for Daylesford in the Ballarat Football League, where he claimed the prestigious Henderson Medal as league best and fairest in 1954, and later captain-coached Minyip before his untimely passing at just 36 years of age.
