Bio
Recruited from the goldfields region, Vic Hutchins joined Essendon from Ballarat for a single, eventful campaign in 1902. Operating primarily as a half-forward, he proved to be a capable avenue to goal and a consistent contributor, doing enough to hold his spot in the side for the Grand Final against Collingwood. Although his VFL career ended after that premiership defeat, Hutchins remained a significant figure in country football; he returned to his home club Ballarat, where he became a stalwart player and eventually played a pivotal role in their 1908 premiership victory.
