Bio
Recruited from the Collingwood District side, Vin Batchelor was a patient clubman who served a long apprenticeship in the reserves before finally earning a senior guernsey. A solidly built player capable of holding his own in physical contests, he made his debut in the opening round of the 1924 season but found senior opportunities scarce, managing just two games for the year. He returned to the lower grades where he remained a fixture, eventually tallying 40 games and 21 goals for the reserves between 1920 and 1927. His legacy at the club extended to the next generation, with his son Keith Batchelor later playing senior football for the Magpies, Carlton, and North Melbourne during the 1950s.
