Bio
Recruited from the local northern suburbs, Vin Catoggio established himself as one of the most recognisable figures of the 1970s VFL landscape, defined by his trademark afro hairstyle and electric pace as a rover. Dubbed the "Italian Stallion," he was a skilled and elusive small man who specialised in breaking away from packs to kick running goals, quickly becoming a cult hero among the Princes Park faithful. Despite his talent, Catoggio often found himself fighting for a permanent spot in a star-studded Blues midfield, and he famously missed out on the 1979 premiership side despite playing 16 games that season. He transferred to Melbourne in 1981 in search of greater regular opportunities and finished his career with a brief stint at Sydney in 1983, yet he remains synonymous with the colourful character of the Carlton Football Club during that era.
