Bio
Recruited from Wodonga in the Ovens & Murray Football League, Vin Doolan was a rover and small forward who holds a curious place in North Melbourne history during the club's transition from cellar dwellers to a powerhouse. Standing at 175cm, he is best remembered for the statistical quirk of the 1972 season where, during a dismal wooden spoon campaign, he tied with Sam Kekovich for the club's leading goalkicker award with a measly tally of 19 majors—the lowest winning total at Arden Street since the 1930s. While he was a regular contributor during those lean years, the arrival of coach Ron Barassi and superstar recruits like Doug Wade saw Doolan squeezed out of the senior lineup. He managed just a single appearance in the Kangaroos' historic 1974 Grand Final season before departing the VFL to captain-coach Wangaratta.
