Stats
Bio
Recruited from Brighton in the VFA, Vin Maguire arrived at Corio Oval during a tumultuous period for the league and the nation. A smaller utility standing at 175cm, he likely operated as a rover or flanker, breaking into the senior side in 1915 just before the geopolitical landscape shifted the club's priorities. When Geelong voluntarily withdrew from the VFL for the 1916 season due to the First World War, Maguire remained in the fold, returning immediately to help re-establish the side upon their 1917 re-entry. He served as a consistent contributor during this lean "war-time" era, playing out three consecutive seasons before his career concluded in 1919. His life ended in tragedy just a decade later when he passed away in Geelong West at the premature age of 36.
