Stats
Bio
Recruited from Camberwell, Vin Smith played a single season for Hawthorn in 1935, showing promise as a forward who could hit the scoreboard with a goal-a-game average. Despite his solid start in the VFL, he opted to leave the top tier to pursue opportunities in the country, accepting a captain-coach position with Brocklesby in the Albury & District Football League. His time in the bush was successful, seeing him finish runner-up in the league's best and fairest count, before he returned to metropolitan football with Sandringham in the VFA. Like many of his generation, his football journey was ultimately curtailed by military service during the Second World War.
