Bio
A Tasmanian import recruited from Hobart club Lefroy and the local Leopold side, Wal Smallhorn joined South Melbourne during a period of significant strength for the club. Standing 175cm, he was a mid-sized utility who faced an uphill battle to secure a permanent spot in a lineup that contested the finals in both of his years on the list. Consequently, Smallhorn served primarily as a depth player for the Bloods, managing only sporadic appearances rather than settling into a defined role or position. He played just four senior games across the 1905 and 1906 seasons before his brief VFL career concluded, leaving him as a fringe contributor during a successful era for the Red and White.
