Stats
Bio
Recruited from Oak Park, stocky half-forward Wally Buhaj progressed through the Essendon Under 19s but found consistent senior opportunities difficult to secure. He played the majority of his VFL matches as a reserve, often struggling to break into the starting eighteen. His time at Windy Hill was highlighted by his dominance in the seconds, where he won the 1968 Reserves Best and Fairest and played in a Reserves premiership. Seeking greater opportunity, Buhaj was cleared to Burnie in Tasmania midway through 1969 before enjoying a distinguished post-VFL career in Queensland, finishing runner-up in the Grogan Medal while playing for Mayne.
