Bio
Born in Williamstown and educated at Scotch College, Wally Fraser was a versatile utility who bridged the gap between the VFA and VFL eras. After debuting with Essendon in 1920 and managing 19 games over three seasons, Fraser crossed to the Association to join a powerhouse Footscray outfit. He became a pivotal figure in the club's pre-VFL golden era, featuring in the 1923 and 1924 VFA premierships and lining up in the backline for the famous "Championship of Victoria" victory over his former side Essendon in 1924. A capable goal-kicker who could rotate forward or hold down a defensive post, Fraser remained with the Tricolours for their inaugural VFL season in 1925, playing six final senior games to help establish the club in the elite competition before retiring.
