Bio
Recruited from VFA stronghold Williamstown, Wally Gibbins was a lively rover and forward who demonstrated a sharp eye for goal during his solitary season in the VFL. He broke into the Carlton lineup in 1913 and immediately proved his worth, booting 10 goals across 11 games to maintain a strong strike rate in a defensive era. Despite his ability to hit the scoreboard, Gibbins was unable to secure a long-term position as the Blues aggressively reconfigured their list ahead of their dominant 1914-15 premiership run. He remains a notable "one-season player" who performed admirably at the top level before his brief tenure came to a close.
