Bio
Arriving at Victoria Park from Prahran, Wally Haysom was a tenacious back pocket who experienced the ultimate success in his debut season. He immediately cemented his spot in the Collingwood lineup in 1919, playing 16 games and serving as a reliable cog in the defence that defeated Richmond to claim the premiership. Although his VFL career was brief—adding just seven games in 1920 before departing the league—Haysom remains a notable figure in Magpie history. He held the distinction of being the last surviving member of the 1919 premiership side, providing a living link to the club's post-war era until his passing in 1982.
