Bio
Recruited from Carrum in the Federal Football League, Wally Hillis arrived at Punt Road as a tall defender capable of holding down a key post in the backline. He was thrown immediately into the fray at the highest level, making his senior debut in Round 1 of the 1962 season against Melbourne at the MCG. Hillis managed to hold his spot in the senior side for the first three weeks of the campaign, featuring in matches against St Kilda and Footscray, but struggled to cement a permanent role in the defensive rotation. His VFL career concluded after those three consecutive appearances, marking a brief cameo during a transitional era for the Tigers before he eventually returned to local football.
