Bio
Recruited from the remote Mallee settlement of Tutye, Wally Kelly was a pacy utility who added speed to the Footscray lineup during the mid-1930s. Standing 179cm, he possessed the athletic traits of a damaging flanker or wingman, evidenced by his competitive performances in professional sprinting handicaps of the era. Despite these attributes, Kelly struggled to cement a permanent position in the senior side, managing 21 games over his first three seasons before drifting out of the league for two years. He made a solitary return for the Bulldogs in 1938 but could not re-establish himself, eventually departing for VFA club Yarraville the following season.
