Bio
Recruited from Williamstown in the VFA, Wally O'Brien was a diminutive wingman who made his mark at Footscray in the early 1930s. Standing just 170cm, he relied on his pace and ground-level skills to drive the ball forward, playing alongside his brother Bernie in the red, white and blue. O'Brien became a regular fixture in the Bulldogs' midfield for four seasons, offering consistent service on the outer before his opportunities dried up. He eventually crossed to Fitzroy for a final season in 1935, adding a brief stint with the Lions to a respectable career across Victoria's top two competitions.
