Recruited from Morningside in the QAFL, New Zealand-born Warren 'Wow' Jones was an imposing figure who became a definitive cult hero at Princes Park. Standing 200cm and weighing over 100kg, Jones was a rugged ruckman renowned for his physical presence and aggression rather than tactical finesse. With his menacing moustache and tattoos, he served as the club's designated "enforcer," often playing the second ruck role to support captain Mike Fitzpatrick. His terrifying demeanour on the field belied a popular personality off it, but opponents rarely saw the softer side as he used his heavy frame to crash packs and protect his smaller midfielders.

Jones's crowning moment came in the 1982 Grand Final, where he played a pivotal role in nullifying Richmond star Mark Lee to help secure the premiership for Carlton. After missing the 1981 flag and later battling a bout of glandular fever that stalled his momentum with the Blues, he crossed to St Kilda in 1986 for a final three-year stint to finish his career. While his statistical output was modest, Jones remains fondly remembered as a premiership player who provided essential grit and protection during a golden era for the Carlton Football Club.
