Bio
Originally a country recruit from Lemnos in the Goulburn Valley, Wayne Delmenico was a key position utility who played 31 games for Melbourne between 1972 and 1975. Although he booted his only VFL goal in just his second senior appearance, he primarily operated as a defender, enjoying his most consistent run in the side during his final season at the club. Unable to secure a long-term fixture in the Demons' lineup, he headed north to play in Darwin before being recruited to the WAFL, where he truly made his mark. Delmenico became a stalwart for South Fremantle, racking up 128 games and earning state selection for Western Australia. His legacy is defined by his role in the Bulldogs' famous 1980 premiership victory, and he maintained a connection to the top level by working as a WA-based scout for Melbourne following his retirement.
