Bio
Standing 197cm tall, Wayne Duke was a ruckman recruited from South Warrnambool who found consistent senior selection difficult to secure during his time at Fitzroy. Although restricted to just nine VFL games, Duke’s career is best remembered for a highly successful mid-season transfer to the WAFL. In 1978, he crossed the Nullarbor to join East Perth, where he was immediately thrust into the number one ruck role for their finals campaign. This move proved a masterstroke, as Duke became a premiership player with the Royals later that year before briefly returning to Fitzroy. He eventually settled permanently in the west, finishing his playing days with stints at both East Perth and Claremont.
