Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Riverina stronghold of Grong Grong-Matong, Wayne Evans was a teenage talent who broke into the South Melbourne side during the 1977 season. A small forward and rover standing 178cm, he showed an ability to find the football and hit the scoreboard, averaging almost 13 disposals and kicking seven goals across his 11 senior games. Despite a promising start where he featured regularly as an 18-year-old, Evans' VFL career was ultimately limited to that single campaign. He remains a representative of the Swans' rich history of Riverina recruits, a young player who flashed potential at Lakeside Oval before his tenure at the top level came to a premature close.
