Bio
Recruited from West Perth as a mature-age prospect, Wayne Henwood established himself at the Sydney Swans as a versatile key position player capable of operating at both ends of the ground. While primarily utilised as a full-back or centre half-back tasked with manning the opposition's strongest forwards, he possessed strong hands and the capacity to swing forward to impact the scoreboard, kicking 15 goals in his debut season. He remained a consistent figure in the Swans' lineup during a turbulent era for the club before returning to Victoria and joining Melbourne via the 1992 Pre-Season Draft. Henwood managed just a single senior appearance for the Demons before retiring, transitioning fully into a legal career that eventually saw him serve as a long-standing member of the AFL Tribunal.
