Bio
Recruited from Warburton-Millgrove in the Yarra Valley, Wayne Morris was a tall, athletic utility who stood 188cm. He broke into the South Melbourne senior lineup midway through the 1967 season, managing five VFL appearances in a brief stint at the top level. His football journey was heavily influenced by his service in the RAAF, which saw him posted to Gippsland and playing for Sale while stationed at the East Sale air base. Morris later returned to his original club, Warburton-Millgrove, where he cemented his status as a genuine local legend, winning three league Best and Fairest awards in the YVMDFL and four club champion titles during the 1970s. A timber miller by trade, he eventually retired from the field in his early thirties to preserve his body for his work.
