Bio
A mature-age recruit from East Perth in the WAFL, Wayne Otway arrived at Essendon in 1982 and immediately established himself as a dangerous goal-kicking rover. Possessing a sharp sense for goal and the ability to find space in the forward pocket, he averaged nearly two goals a game during his brief VFL tenure. Otway played a key role in the Bombers' rapid improvement under Kevin Sheedy, culminating in his selection for the 1983 Grand Final loss to Hawthorn. Despite his prolific form and integral status in the side, he returned to Western Australia after just two seasons, leaving a legacy as one of the club's most effective short-term imports.
