Stats
Bio
Recruited from Nathalia in country Victoria, Wes Smith was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who joined Hawthorn as a teenager in 1965. Standing at 177cm and weighing just 70kg, Smith relied on agility and goal sense rather than physical presence, managing a respectable return of 21 majors across his three-year tenure. He broke into a Hawks lineup that had slumped to the bottom of the ladder, offering a spark in the forward half during the club's difficult post-1961 premiership rebuild. Smith was a regular contributor during his short stint at Glenferrie Oval, but his VFL career concluded after the 1967 season with 28 senior appearances to his name.
